January Update: Happy MLK Day
Today I am taking the time to reflect on where we are as a nation and what my role is in advancing the fight for freedom. I am reminded that I am an heir of Dr. King's dream for this country and the leadership that he demonstrated inspiring Americans that look like me to claim their spot and fight against evil and hatred. In my present work, it is my great intention to be an ally in moving forward his legacy.

Today, Americans are still fighting for their personal vision of the American dream. Today, we are all still aspiring to evolve as a country that believes in equity and freedom for all. I am very grateful for the opportunity that has been bestowed upon me to lead in my community. I do not take it lightly what Dr. King and leaders like him have endured so that I can be where I am today. I am a proud American because of the rich history of freedom fighters that have sacrificed their lives for a better America. We are still on the journey of living up to the potential of what this great nation can be. I am grateful and I strive to be an example of the perseverance and the faith that it takes to stand for justice every day and do my part to make America the country that Dr. King would be proud of.
